"Bob Blick" Propeller Clock
Saturday, March 3, 2001 - Day 3 This should be actually counted as more than one day because we worked all day Saturday and then through most of the night and Sunday morning.
First, we got an old CD-R that had a blue background and used it for the backdrop of our
circuit. It wasn't exactly perfect but it worked out nicely. Then, we put a three-wire
connector on the end of the three wires coming out of the motor so that we could unplug
it whenever we needed to.
Later we wished we would have left the wires a little longer and devised a way to go through the circuit board rather than around it, but we would have to find a way to make do.
After working almost all day, we took a break and got some food at Checkers. This was
at about 11:00 at night. Here is the guy that handed it to us through the window. We
wanted to include him in the journal because, quite obviously, without him, none of
this would be possible.
By this time, the circuit was just about finished as well. We used a Dremel tool to
round and cut out our circuit. It did not come out perfect at all, but had a somewhat
sleek look to it.
We drilled a hole to screw the pc board down to the threaded spacer on the motor. This was pretty much the last thing we did for the night. Now, we just need to make the LED assembly to attach to the end of the circuit board. Here is Shaun with what we ended with: |
