Some of you know that we had a very special event at our home a few weeks ago. I haven't made a post about it until now because it has been so hard to find time to sit and organize some pictures and a blog post!

A few weeks ago, an awesome thing happened. First, Vince, Amy, Ethan and Kyle were planning on making a trip to Houston to spend some time before school started. We were thrilled. I couldn't wait to show them the sights at Johnson Space Center. Neo kept counting down the days until Ethan would be here. Christian had meal plans made and our calendar set up with events.

And then, it got better. My nanny (godmother for most people) Michelle might be available to come and meet us in Houston! Wow. Everyone loves spending time with Michelle and Denise! Now we were really pumped.

Then it got even better. Michelle sent me a text message to let me know that Boo and Beth and their two boys were going to drive in from Baton Rouge to meet up with us as well! I can't tell you how excited we were.

And everyone made it into town, and the whole weekend was a blast. The kids played, we barbecued, we laughed... we all went down to Johnson Space Center and took tours. We also all went to Kemah to play and eat at the Aquarium restaurant.

We also had a small birthday celebration for Ethan.

What a great weekend. It was so much fun, that I'm gonna suggest we make it a standing event. I can't wait to get everyone together again.

Charlie still asks almost every day for "Michelle" and "Denise" (with that cute "s" sound of denise with his tongue between his teeth).

All of the pictures from the "Persi-nino" weekend are here.

Just got through spending the afternoon with Neo on his last day of summer before school. Wound up going fishing and playing at the park with him and the dog.

While fishing, Neo reeled in some sort of huge fish! I'm not exactly sure what it is. A closer picture is here. You can't tell from the picture, but the fish was really thick, which is why I can't really say what it is.

Finally. It is here. The pictures from our trip!!!

I apologize that this has taken so long. We have been going non-stop in one way or another since we got back.

But here it is. You may have already read some of my journal from our trip, but my reworked one is even better. This one has pictures inline, some more stories that I had originally removed (since they contained details of gifts we had not yet delivered), and links to more information so that you can learn about the things that we saw.

Here is the link to the new and improved, director's cut, italy trip journal.

I suggest the link above, but in case you want the Cliff's note version, here is some direct links to some of our select photo galleries:
Alternatively, here are the complete galleries organized by location:

A special thanks to all of those who made this trip possible, especially all of our family who took care of our boys. It really was a trip of a lifetime.

Goldens learn quick. I taught him sit in about 3 sessions and stay in about 1. Coming when called is still a bit rough. For 6 weeks old, I'm a proud daddy.
