I am willing to bet that most people had a pretty good Thanksgiving.

But I am also willing to bet that our Thanksgiving was, quite possibly, the best Thanksgiving ever.

First of all, no one on the planet is more blessed than I am. I have the most beautful wife in the world. I have a wonderful, loving son. I have a great family. I have a great job. I work with great people. My family is healthy. What more could a person want?

Well, on top of all that, God decided to bless our family with the ultimate Thanksgiving weekend.

We went to a small fishing cabin in the small town of New Ulm, Texas which is just outside of Houston on the way to Austin. The trip was great. We took our time packing and getting on the road. Once we got there, we unpacked and Neo and I immediately got in one of the aluminum boats to tour the pond. Not long after did some cows come to investigate (and drink).

We had a great picnic outside that afternoon. The next morning, I started casting early for bass. I had 3 hits, but was only able to land 1. It was alot of fun and Neo enjoyed seeing a "bigger" fish. After that, we took out the coleman stove and cooked a great breakfast outside, including some good Richard's sausage and fried eggs. After our big breakfast, mom took a nap and Neo and I fished for quite a few hours. Neo managed to catch 5 fish, and 4 of them were completely on his own. He was even throwing the line out himself before the day was over.

That afternoon, we went and fed the horses. That was really awesome. We got dressed and went out for a nice dinner in the town of "Round Top" Texas. We ate at the "Round Top Cafe" and had a wonderful meal. Christian had the pork tenderloin and I had a "shrimp and vegetable stuffed boneless quail, wrapped in bacon, and grilled in a butter sauce". Wow. The specialty at this place was their pies. We each had a slice of pie for dessert. They came with a scoop of blue bell homemade vanilla ice-cream on top (in fact, the menu said that all pie came with a scoop of BBHV, and that it would cost $0.50 extra to NOT have ice-cream on top). Needless to say, it was very good.

Sat morning, we had a light breakfast and packed up. Before we left, we fed the horses out of the truck which was very fun. We went back to Round Top to antique shop and eat lunch.

On our way home, we stopped off at the Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham, TX. They only offer tours during the week, but we thought we would stop in and get a scoop of ice-cream in their store. The people inside weren't very courteous at all, and didn't hesitate to kick us out immediately at closing time (which was 4:00 PM!). We won't be going back there to catch the "tour". I would boycott their ice-cream, but it's just too damn good.

Well, now you can see how truly blessed we are. We already had so much, and now we had a wonderful trip behind us. Sometimes I don't know how to say "thank you" to God for such abundant blessings. I figure the best thing I can do is enjoy them and not waste them.

All of the pics (and 1 video) are here.

Yet another amazing weekend.

We went into Louisiana on Friday afternoon to prepare for the couple's shower for Lori. On Saturday, while Christian was preparing for the party, Neo and I went around town together. We watched the LHS band practice, visited with Maw-Maw and Paw-Paw, and ate hamburgers at Judice Inn. Throughout the day, I ran into so many people that I haven't seen in such a long time - friends, former teachers and principles, former bosses, etc.

That night, we had the party and it was great. The theme was the "Mysteries of Marriage". Christian and I went dressed up as Fred and Velma from Scooby Doo. It was a lot of fun and I think everyone had a good time. You can see pics from the event here.

After the party, we went downtown to the Jefferson Street Pub, where I ran into so many people that I haven't seen in so long, that I can only describe it as a mini high-school reunion. It was great to see so many people and catch up.

On Sunday, we attended a church fundraising lunch with Mrs. Pam and Mr. Troy. The food was awesome and the auctions were great fun to watch.

Thanks to everyone that helped Christian prepare for the party. We appreciate it so much.

Also, Vince sent over a few of Ethan's Halloween pics which I added to Ethan's folder. Too cute.
