Our first big step in the home theater room was completed today: a buddy of mine from work helped me build a custom electronics rack and shelves in the closet. Check out the closet before and after. Greg, I can't thank you enough man. You can see a few more pics here.
The next step is getting some wiring in for various things and preparing to paint.

Christian and I have made an executive decision. We have decided that we are going to officially convert our guest bedroom into a home theater. That's about all we know at this point.
But all you visitors out there, fear not. We are planning to still maintain the ability to sleep people in that room. So far, the best idea we have for this is a nice couch for movie watching that will double as a sofa bed.
The project officially began today with the cleaning out of the room, and the buying of the paint. Considering all the work we need to do before we can even paint, I think we have a long way to go.
I will be sure to publish pictures and news of the progress in the room (big shocker right?).

What a great Father's Day weekend. On Saturday, Neo had another T-ball game. He did very well, although it was so hot outside that the kids barely lasted 2 innings. Afterwards, we went to the company picnic for Christian's company. Wow... what a huge event. We went tubing, rode the paddleboats, and ate BBQ.
Sunday was relaxing, and made a nice end to the weekend. Pictures from the T-ball game, and the company picnic are available here.

Neo's first "real" T-ball game. They played 2 complete innings. There was 1 out (made by Neo). They let the kid keep running anyway.
I figured out T-ball after 1 game: you don't need good gloves, big hitters, fast runners - the only thing you need are kids that can pay attention more than 4 seconds.

Looks like Tropical Storm Arlene is headed towards east Louisiana. You guys don't hesitate to make a trip over to Houston if that thing comes in your direction. We would love to have some visitors and we have plenty of room. Also, you guys could see one of Neo's T-ball games :)
Seriously, we would love to have you guys over.

Christian and I watched "Garden State" last night. I must say, it is so refreshing to finally see a movie that is different from the boiler-plate stuff to come out of Hollywood that assures them of making x number of dollars.
The movie was written and directed by Zach Braff (yep - the guy from the hilarious TV show "Scrubs"). He also stars in the movie along with Natalie Portman, who is also amazing. It is obvious that this guy has a bright future ahead of him. Check it out next time you want to rent a good movie.

Neo had his first practice today for "big-boy T-ball". The coach lined the kids up and told them the name of their team was the Orioles. He asked them if they knew what an oriole was, to which they all raised their hand and told him that it was a cookie with white filling.
The best part was when one parent and myself were helping the kids bat. This kid came up and we helped him get his feet set, adjusted the tee, and told him to hit it hard. He proceeded to wind up and smack the ball backwards right into the backstop. The other dad and I both nodded in agreement and said "OK! left-handed... got it."
Looks like the part in the fan that is dead is the receiver, which is the only part not covered by the so-called "Lifetime Warranty". And it looks like the part won't be available from the manufacturer for another 3-6 weeks. After dealing with Hampton Bay and the manufacturer for this fan, I would advise others to stick with other brands such as Hunter and to stay away from Hampton Bay (Home Depot's house brand).
