I spent all day today working on the van. I am still trying to find that darn electrical leak. I checked the voltage at the power plug in the center console and it was only about 5 volts. I traced it back to the fuse panel - all of the fuses had slight corrosion. I think coke got spilled on them at some time. I changed every fuse except 2 and sprayed thoroughly with contact cleaner. This fixed the power plug and helped some other things, but did not fix the leak.
I believe the problem is that when I turn the key off, certain relays stay latched on. In this state, the chime does not come on, and I can still roll my windows up and down!! And when I remove fuse 19 (GEM/Instrument cluster), and replace it, the relays unlatch, and I go to the correct "key off" behavior - mainly - chime when key in ignition and door open and power windows don't work. Any ideas would be appreciated. Some good news is that I think I finally have a good set of windshield wipers on the van. These actually work!!! In other news, Christian dressed up like "Velma" from Scooby Doo today for work. I will post the pictures when I post all of the ones from Halloween. Archives |
